Here I am on Sunday morning, enjoying a  delicious cup of joe, fireplace is on, Bella the is sleeping sounding by it, Harry is having a hard time settling down,  somewhere in the house our 17 year old kitty is snoozing, my belly is full from breakfast and I am rested from a good sleep. All is good.

Recently I have been reminded of the value and importance of attitude  in our lives. How we view and see the world impacts how we interact with our world. As I am sitting here writing, my focus and attitude could have been on  the grey cloudy skies outside, Harry’s difficulty with settling down, feeling a little “writer’s block” about what to write, even though writing this is a choice, I feel strongly this is something I need and want to do. Do I focus more on the positive or taint my morning with grey, gloomy, pacing pup, what do I write about aarrgghh?

I take a moment and sit, no typing, no reading, close my eyes, breath in and out. As my mind clears, my body relaxes, I think about all the good in my life, feel all the good around me and continue on.

Did you know you can change your attitude and your brain? You CAN! It is called neuroplasicity. Neuroplasticity is the “brain’s ability to change CONTINUOUSLY throughout your life” according to Wikipedia. Debbie Hampton states:

“It’s the ability of your brain to reorganize itself, both physically and functionally, throughout your life due to your environment, behavior, thinking, and emotions. Neuroplasticity makes your brain extremely resilient and is the process by which all permanent learning takes place in your brain, such as playing a musical instrument or mastering a different language. Neuroplasticity also enables people to recover from stroke, injury, and birth abnormalities, overcome autism, ADD and ADHD, learning disabilities and other brain deficits, pull out of depression and addictions, and reverse obsessive-compulsive patterns.”

Which means if you do the work and keep at it you have the ability and power to change your attitude. YEP you can change it. It takes approximately 18 -254 days to develop a new habit if you work at it on a continuous, consistent manner. Do you want to change your thinking, your mindset, your attitude?  In an article in Second Wind Movement there is a detailed 9 step guide to changing your attitude. Steps like finding clarity, set meaningful goals, take daily steps to your goals, a growth mindset, who is in your tribe, exercising,  and just do it. http://secondwindmovement.com/neuroplasticity/

The recent reminder of how attitude impacts living came from two friends. One of my friends was going in for meniscus repair. Her attitude was that she would watch movies, read for a few days then begin mending her knee. How positive is that! Another friend has been in an unhappy relationship for a long time and they have children.. They are working at making it work. It is taxing and difficult for my friend. Sometimes she is able to have a positive attitude about all the good in her life as there is much good in her life. There is a noticeable difference is her when she feels empowered and positive. Other times even though nothing has changed her attitude is dark, negative, and she is edgy.  She has a great sense of self and is able to reflect that while her positive attitude requires work it helps her feel better about her life. There are times the dark attitude enters her attitude. It’s what she does when that happens that helps her to feel better or worse about her life.

Most resilient, worthy person you are so deserving of feeling good about you and your life. You CAN change your attitude about you and your life. Just like any change it will require focus, determination, dedication, work. You are worth the work to change how you see your value, your worth. I believe you can do it!

May your attitude be with you💜
